Privacy & Child Safety

1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains the privacy practices for Recess Reflections pages and activities that link to it. We refer to visitors under age 13 as “Children.” It is intended to help parents, caregivers, educators, and school officials understand how the site works.

2. Information from Children

Recess Reflections does not ask Children to provide a name, email address, school name, location, account credentials, or other personal information to use its child-facing learning activities. Children do not create profiles, and the site does not save their answers, scores, or progress after the activity is closed or refreshed.

Children should not use the adult email sign-up form or send personal information through any adult contact channel. If we learn that a Child has provided personal information directly to us, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

3. Information from Adults

Parents, caregivers, teachers, and other adults may choose to submit a name and email address through the “Stay connected” form. This information is used to provide requested Recess Reflections news and resources. The form is processed by our website hosting provider. Adult subscribers may ask to unsubscribe or have their submitted information deleted.

4. Limited technical information

Like most websites, our hosting and content-delivery providers may automatically receive limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser or device type, requested page, and date and time of access. We do not use this information to build student profiles or for targeted advertising.

The site currently uses Netlify for hosting and form processing and Google Fonts to display typefaces. These providers process limited information under their own privacy terms and may use security technologies necessary to operate their services.

5. Advertising, tracking, and sales

• We do not sell or rent Children’s personal information.
• We do not show targeted or behavioral advertisements on Recess Reflections pages.
• We do not use child-facing activities to create advertising profiles.
• We do not ask Children to enable precise location, camera, microphone, or contacts access.

6. Schools and classroom use

Schools remain responsible for determining whether a resource is appropriate under their own policies and applicable law. A school or district may contact us with a privacy or security review request using the contact information below.

7. Links to other websites

Recess Reflections links to separately operated services, including other learning activities, Teachers Pay Teachers, YouTube, Amazon, and Beacons. A link opens the other service, whose privacy practices and terms apply. Adults should review those practices before allowing a Child to use an external service. This policy does not cover information collected on third-party websites.

8. Children’s privacy and COPPA

Our child-facing activities are designed to avoid collecting personal information from Children. We do not condition participation in an activity on a Child disclosing personal information. If our practices change in a way that requires verifiable parental consent under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we will provide notice and obtain consent before collecting covered information.

9. Choices, deletion, and contact

An adult may ask what information they submitted, request correction or deletion, unsubscribe, or submit a school privacy or security question by emailing recessreflections@gmail.com. Please do not include student personal information in a request.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site or its services change. We will post the revised policy here and update the date below. If a change materially affects information collected from Children, we will provide any notice or consent required by law.
